Our community supports all corners of the aviation world and what better way to celebrate General Aviation than with a fly-in. Welcome to all, whether you own a plane, would like to rent a plane or would just like to meet us at the airport. We have a great day planned for our members starting at Lee on Solent (EGHF). We will aim to meet here mid-afternoon for a tour of the Britten Norman factory hangar. A huge thank you to Jon Siva for facilitating this! We also plan on a visit to the Coast Guard base (hopefully something none of us will ever need). Following that, some fish and chips on the beach, and then we will all fly over to Sandown Airport (Bembridge and then a short taxi if aircraft restricted) on the Isle Of White. We have arranged for the pizza oven to be fired up and the bar to be stocked, all ready for our arrival. For those wishing to stay overnight, we have the option of camping under the wing at the airport or a Premier Inn a short drive away.
The following day we will all depart unless you wish to stay for the Flampin event being held by the airport that weekend. An event with more great food, socialising and live music! We are also excited to be partnering with Blackbushe Aviation (a flying club and school) to meet their members on the trip. GA is full of aviators from all walks of life so this would serve as a great opportunity to share the flying and continue to meet new people!
We know that not everyone has access to an aircraft suitable for this trip (I’m not sure I could land an A320 there), so would love for us all to coordinate. Sharing seats is a great way to split the cost and share the experience with other members. I will create a google form shortly to start coordinating this!
